What are Sugar n' Spice's hours?

Each location may have varying hours, seasonally. Please check Google for current seasonal store hours. In general, we open between 7am and 8am and close between 2pm and 3pm, 7 days a week.

Does Sugar n' Spice take reservations or offer a waitlist?

We don't take reservations, but we've got a couple of ways to make the wait easier. At Blue Ash you can join the waitlist through Google before you head over. For OTR or Reading Road, feel free to call ahead to add your name to the waitlist before you get here.

Weekend mornings and brunch hours are our busiest, so the list keeps moving, but we can't promise an exact seating time. One thing to know before you come: your whole party needs to be here before we can seat you.

Planning to bring six or more? Call the location you're visiting a few days ahead and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

history & Traditions

Our proud heritage & favorite things.

How long has Sugar n' Spice been open?

Sugar n' Spice has been serving Cincinnati since 1941. Morton Keller opened our original Reading Road location, and it's still there today, still serving the same pancakes. We've added two more since, in Over-the-Rhine and Blue Ash, and in 2026 we celebrate 85 years.

What is the deal with the rubber ducks?

Rubber ducks have become one of our most recognizable traditions. It all started with the original owner, who would hand out small trinkets to children after their meals. Over time, rubber ducks became the staple favorite & we discovered "grown-up" kids loved a fun gift to take home too!

Guests choose one at the end of their visit, with holiday ducks, ducks in costumes and plenty of unexpected options to consider. We sometimes run out, but we do our best to keep up with demand at each location. They are a little perk, not a promise. We go through a lot of them and we do our best to keep the basket full.
